Lord Jagannath is the Lord of the universe, and considered to be the ninth incarnation of lord Vishnu in Kali Yuga. His companions elder brother Balabhadra is the incarnation of the serpent Sesha, and their youngest sister Subhadra is the incarnation of Adi-Shakti. This beautiful artwork carved out of soapstone represents the triad in their original form. Lord Jagannath and Balabhadra do not have palms and feet, and goddess Subhadra does not have hands and legs. Whereas the big round eyes of the lords are beautifully carved, their colorless smile is even captivating and even without an ear the lord listens to every prayer of their devotees. Beside lord Jagannath the “Sudarshan Chakra” the “discus” is placed which is the weapon of lord Vishnu.
